This is a rebroadcast of an earlier show (November 14th); no calls will be taken.
Childsplay is the creation of luthier Bob Childs, a fiddler who has been making violins for more than 35 years. Childs has a long history in Maine. He got his first job here as a furniture maker up on the airline highway in Amherst, Maine. It was there that he took his violin to get fixed by Ivie Mann in Orrington. Bob also toured and probably performed in almost every town and city in Maine for years (performing for dances and concerts playing music that he learned from local fiddlers). The band name of “Childsplay” derives from the fact that all the members play violins and violas crafted by Childs himself.
