Delahanty Unseated While on Vacation

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ Former U.S. Attorney Thomas Delahanty II knew he was going to give up his job to an appointee of President Donald Trump. He just didn't expect the end to come so abruptly.

Delahanty tells the Portland Press Herald that he thought he'd be allowed to serve until a successor was confirmed. Instead, he was dismissed while on vacation after Attorney General Jeff Session ordered 46 remaining appointees of President Barack Obama to resign.

He says he didn't get a chance to wrap up loose ends and that his email and iPhone were cut off while he was stranded out of state by the nor'easter.

He says he wished he had the opportunity to assist his successor, just as he received guidance from the U.S. attorney he replaced, Paula Silsby.
