The position develops and directs a five-person Major Gifts team and manages assigned relationships with donors, secures grants, oversees special events, coordinates annual fund, major gift and planned giving solicitation plans, and identifies and cultivates prospects. Additionally, the Director manages a donor portfolio of 80-100 and oversees the pipeline management for major and planned gifts. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and works closely with the CEO and a variety of high-level staff, donors, and volunteers to maximize major gifts to Maine Public.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Five years of experience in fundraising for public broadcasting or other nonprofits is preferred. Experience building external relationships, plus excellent written and verbal communication skills. One to two years of event management experience in the nonprofit sector is strongly preferred. Experience with databases strongly preferred. A valid driver’s license and regular travel to all Maine Public locations will be required with occasional evening and night hours as necessary for special events and fundraising activities. The successful candidate must thrive in a professional and dynamic environment, work well both in a team environment and independently, and demonstrate a love of public broadcasting.
