Dying Woman's Lawyer Asserts She Can Get Marijuana in Maine

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) _ The lawyer for a terminally ill New Hampshire woman is filing court documents saying she could get medical marijuana in Maine if New Hampshire health officials issue her a card saying she's eligible.

Linda Horan of Alstead is seeking a court order that health officials issue her a medical marijuana identification card before dispensaries open in New Hampshire next year. Lawyers for the state argue that would undermine the state's need to control distribution at its alternative treatment centers.

Horan, who has late-stage lung cancer, said after a hearing last week that she may be dead before in-state dispensaries open.

Her lawyer filed affidavits Thursday from Maine dispensary operators saying Horan could get marijuana with a New Hampshire ID card.

Lawyers for the state didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
