A Gorham man is facing child pornography charges after agents, acting on a tip, found hundreds of images of child porn on his computer.
State officials say Micah Maurio, 28, was arrested at 10:30 this morning at his Gray Road home and charged with dissemination of sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12. He was was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
Authorities say Maurio's computer was seized and will be further analyzed by state police. None of the children depicted are believed to be from Maine, officials say.
State Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland says Maurio is a musician, and lectures on music part time at the University of Southern Maine.
The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit began investigating Maurio in October, after receiving a tip.
Gorham Police assisted in the arrest. Maurio offered no resistance, officials say.
