Maine Venues Beef Up Security After Concert Attack

PORTLAND, Maine - Venues in Maine are supplementing their security in the wake of the concert terror attack in England.

WGME-TV reports that Maine officials are ratcheting up security as police ask concert goers to remain vigilant. The security increases come days after a suicide bomber injured and killed dozens in the Manchester Arena during a concert.

Waterfront Concerts' production manager Jon Dow spoke with Portland police on Tuesday about security at the Maine State Pier. Dow says security is adding bollards to block vehicle access to the pier.

State Theatre General Manager Lauren Wayne says the venue will continue to maintain its security measures and life safety plans.

A Cross Insurance Arena spokesman told WGME-TV that officials were following the tragedy and would "respond appropriately.''
