Mary Bonauto

https://www.glad.org/staff/mary-bonauto/

Maine resident and Civil Rights Project Director at GLAD since 1990, Mary Bonauto has litigated in the state and federal courts of New England on discrimination issues, parental rights, free speech and religious liberty, and relationship recognition. In 2015 she successfully argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in the historic case Obergefell v. Hodges, establishing the freedom to marry for same-sex couples nationwide.  She joins us to talk about the current issues in LGBT rights, including what's happening in Maine and nationwide regarding non-discrimination, transgender rights and related issues--and how the current climate under the Trump administration affects the LGBT community.

Guest:  Mary Bonauto is a lawyer and civil rights advocate who has worked to eradicate discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
