Back in the 1970s, Maine was a pioneer in the use of mediation as an alternative to the courts in dispute resolution. Now, mediation is used in thousands of cases in Maine – from family disputes to small claims, evictions to land use. Still, many people aren’t aware of mediation and don’t take advantage of the programs available. We’ll learn more about how mediation works, what kind of training is involved and who might benefit from it.
