‘The New Africa’ Camden Conference: Kah Walla

Wikipedia/Creative Commons

All this week Speaking in Maine features highlights of the 2016 Camden Conference. The Camden Conference was founded in 1987 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization whose mission is to foster informed discourse on world issues. The focus of the conference this year was “The New Africa.”

Today’s speaker is Ms. Kah Walla. She’s one of a new generation of African leaders: an entrepreneur, and a grassroots activist in Cameroon. In 2011 she was a candidate for president of Cameroon, challenging a political structure that has seen only two presidents in the last 50 years.
