Nora Flaherty Joins the MPBN News Team

MPBN

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the arrival of Nora Flaherty as its newest addition to the MPBN News staff. Flaherty comes to MPBN from North County Public Radio in Canton, New York, where she worked as a reporter, host and producer of "All Before Five," which aired live just before NPR’s "All Things Considered," and, most recently, as NCPR’s first digital editor.

Flaherty has significant media experience having started her career with Michigan Radio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as an on-air host and producer and then as a content producer for music and interview programming at WFUV in New York. Her work on "All Before Five" at NCPR was recognized with an Edward R. Murrow award for Newscast.

Flaherty joins MPBN News just as MPBN expands its local news presence 4-7 p.m. Monday-Friday. She will step into the role of serving as the local host for NPR’s "All Things Considered" and MPBN’s seminal news show "Maine Things Considered," integrating national stories and headlines with Maine news and information throughout each afternoon.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Nora to MPBN and she joins an outstanding news team committed to bringing our listeners news and information about Maine and our region that they can’t find anywhere else,” says MPBN’s CEO Mark Vogelzang. “Nora will lead the way in delivering more Maine-centric news and stories to our listeners over a greater period of time each afternoon than ever before on MPBN Radio. We think our listeners will really respond to Nora and to hearing more Maine news each afternoon.”

Flaherty will participate in a twitter chat with listeners across the state at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the hashtag #MPBNChat.
