Small Plane Crashes Into Marsh In Jefferson

A crew of about a dozen people in Maine worked for hours to free a pontoon plane that crashed into a bog.

Jefferson Fire Chief Walter Morris said Sunday that an eyewitness saw the plane flying low Saturday evening, before crashing in the bog near Jefferson. The Kennebec Journal reports the plane flipped over onto its roof. Both occupants were not injured.

About 15 people gathered at the bog Sunday to pull the plane out. Witness David Holland, who posted video of the stuck plane, says the crew first worked to flip the plane right-side up before pulling it to safety.

Morris says the crash has been reported to aviation officials.
