PORTLAND, Maine — Parts of southern Maine will see 2 feet of snow as wind gusts up to 50 mph and frigid temperatures make for a dangerous winter storm.
National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Kistner says much of southern Maine will see 12 to 18 inches on Tuesday, while small bands of intense snowfall will increase those totals in localized areas. He says temperatures will remain in the teens while winds carrying light snow will dramatically reduce visibility, making for "really hazardous" driving conditions.
A blizzard warning was issued for central and coastal Maine.
The heaviest snow is likely to fall from daybreak until early afternoon on Tuesday.
A meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Caribou says northern Maine will see 8 to 12 inches and wind gusts up to 30 mph.
