Storm Downs Powerlines in Maine

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ More than 4,000 people in Maine remain without power Saturday morning  after high winds and heavy winds strafed the region.

The nasty weather was courtesy of Hurricane Arthur which, while weakening as it headed north, still  brought down trees throughout Northern New England.

Emera Maine, the state's biggest utility, says crews are working around the clock to restore service. The  company warns that continued strong winds could slow restoration.

In Vermont, just under 1,000 people served by Green Mountain Power remained without electricity  Saturday morning.
