Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins will vote no on the Senate health bill.
In a series of tweets on Monday night, Collins said she wants to fix the flaws in the Affordable Care Act, but a Congressional Budget Office analysis shows the Senate bill won’t do it.
Collins tweeted that 22 million people would lose insurance, and the cuts to Medicaid would hurt the most vulnerable Americans, including the 1 in 5 Mainers who use the program. Collins also said the proposal threatens rural health care, and Maine hospitals are already struggling.
The senator says she wants to work with her Democratic and Republican colleagues to fix the ACA.
