Suspects In Death Of Maine Woman Found Along Road Could Be Extradited In Several Months

A spokesman for the Queens County District Attorney’s Office in New York City says the extradition of a man and a woman arrested in connection with the death of a New Gloucester nurse’s aid found alongside an eastern Maine road last week could take several months.

Kevin Ryan, director of communications for the Queens prosecutor’s office, said 37-year-old Carine Reeves of New York City and 19-year-old Quaneysha Greeley, formerly of Lewiston, Maine, are being held without bail.

“Greeley appeared in Queens Criminal Court on a fugitive from justice warrant from Maine. She refused to waive extradition and her next court date is Aug. 24. Carine Reeves was also arraigned last night in Queens Criminal Court on the fugitive from justice warrant and a local assault charge,” Ryan said. “In this case with Greely, she can waive extradition at any time, otherwise she legally is allowed to have an extradition hearing. It could take up to a year, possibly. With regard to Carine Reeves, the assault case here in New York has to be resolved before he can be extradited back to Maine.”

Maine State Police say DNA was used to confirm the identification of 55-year-old Sally Shaw, whose body was found along Route 193 in Cherryfield on July 19.
