"Tides: The Science and Spirit of the Ocean"

http://tupress.org/books/tides

Writer, sailor and surfer Jonathan White takes readers across the globe to discover the science and spirit of ocean tides. He'll discuss, among other things: Tidal energy development; the Passamaquoddy project, first studied in the 1920s, later championed by President Kennedy, and abandoned after his assassination; Chris Sauer of Portland, Maine's own Ocean Renewable Power Company and his perspective not just on their operations in Eastport but all around the world.  White also writes about the Bay of Fundy and how sea level rise affects humanity in different scenarios.

Guest:  Jonathan White is a writer, conservationist, sailor, and educator. He’s the former president of the Resource Institute and is the author of Talking on the Water: Conversations about Nature and Creativity.

Author Jonathan White will be speaking about tides this week at the following locations:
• June 21 - Laudholm Reserve in Wells, ME
• June 22 - Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Greenland, NH
