'Floating Filaments: Seaweed', a group exhibition opens at the Blue Hill Coop on May 1st and runs for the month. An artists reception will be at the Coop on May 4 at 3 pm. All are welcome.

The show is inspired by the seaweeds that are a little noticed but important component of our coastal shores but attract the eye of both artist and scientist. In addition to the Coop, the exhibit is sponsored by the Blue Hill Peninsula Rockweed Forum a voluntary organization promoting education about intertidal rockweed and conservation of rockweed which is a critical habitat for the sheltering and nurturing of hundreds of marine creatures including larval and juvenile stages of most of our commercial fish and shellfish species. It is the hope of the Rockweed Forum that this exhibit will draw attention to the intertidal habitat and the numerous seaweeds that are an integral part of our Maine coast.

Fifteen artists have contributed work to the show in a wide range of media (oil, watercolor, photography, collage, pressed seaweed, fiber art, cyanotypes, jewelry, etc). The featured artists are Krisanne Baker, Jordan Chalfant, Galen Davis, Pamela Elias, Kate Emlen, Lisa Tyson Ennis, Michele Gower, Christine Guinness, Jeannet Lendertse, Lyn Mayewski, Ron Miriello, Sarah Scamperle, Marcia Stremlau and Tanya Washburn.

❤️This year our auction is in loving memory of Jackson Gibson, a remarkable young soul who graced us with his presence for 11 beautiful years, we are dedicating our efforts to support Make-A-Wish in his honor. Jackson's journey was cut short by Sanfilippo Syndrome (MPS3A), a rare genetic condition, but his impact on the world was profound. Known for his radiant smile and the light of his pure soul, Jackson effortlessly touched the hearts of all who knew him. Despite the challenges he faced, he lived his life with grace and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on those around him. Jackson's memory lives on through the love he shared and the lives he inspired. In his memory, we invite you to join us in supporting Make-A-Wish, helping to bring joy and hope to children facing similar battles. Let's honor Jackson's legacy by spreading the same kind of happiness he brought into everyone's lives. ❤️

Homeschoolers of Maine’s convention returns for another year as the Maine Homeschool Exchange—May 9th and 10th in Augusta. This is HOME's 35th year providing encouraging and informational workshops, family-friendly activities, and fellowship for homeschool families.

Boot Camp for New Dads is a half-day workshop for expectant dads and people who identify as fathers. Trained facilitators from Maine Boys to Men lead short discussions about the social constructs of gender and parenting roles; responding to and resisting stereotypes; caring for infants and supporting partners; creating equal participation in parenting; and actively shaping your role as dads.

Come learn about Aerated Static Pile composting and see how your food is processed into finished compost that is MOFGA approved for use in organic gardening and farming.

This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event with kids' activities, farm goats, and local food. Located on Burrill Farm Road, directly off Route 302, follow the signs to Fern Song Farm. Please note, our farm is not open to the public outside of seedling sale hours.
