How do I download the Maine Public App?
If you have an iPhone, you can download the Maine Public App by searching for and downloading it from the Apple App Store.
If you have an Android device, you can download the app from the Google Play Store.
How can I listen to Maine Public Radio or Maine Public Classical?
When you open the app, click the "RADIO" button at the top center of the screen (underneath the Maine Public Logo). A menu will pop up asking you to select a stream. Once you have selected your desired stream, press the green play button at the top or bottom of the screen and the stream will begin playing.
How can I listen to or watch on demand programming?
In the app, click the hamburger menu (three vertically-stacked lines) at the top left of the screen. When the menu is open, select "ON DEMAND." You can then choose between accessing on demand items for Radio or Television. Click the icon of your desired show to see On Demand options and select the item that you would like to play; then, press the green play button at the bottom of the screen to begin playing.
For Maine PBS Passport items, you will have to login with your Passport Account by selecting "PASSPORT ACCOUNT" in the hamburger menu.
The radio stream I'm listening to keeps cutting out? Why is that happening and what can I do?
Stream audio may be cutting out due to a faulty cellular or wi-fi connection. To figure out which connection is more stable, try toggling between the two.
I'm hearing the sponsorship message too many times!
Sponsor pre-rolls are set to play every hour, or on reconnect. If you are hearing the audio playing more frequently then there is a disruption in your connection.
Whenever there is any hiccup with the your audio signal, be it a cellular connection or wi-fi (switching cell towers, wi-fi buffering, etc.) it generates a new “handshake” with the stream triggering the pre-roll to play again.
The App is not working as expected. What should I do?
To start, we suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the app. This will ensure that your app is on the most recent version, which helps the app run more effectively.
