Maine Public is a media sponsor of the Native American Festival and Basketmakers Market, a collaboration of the Abbe Museum and the Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance. The event offers visitors, collectors, and gallery owners the opportunity to buy directly from the artists, as quality and authenticity is the hallmark of this Indian Market. For many visitors, this is a rare opportunity to meet the artists and learn about contemporary Indian arts and cultures from Maine and the Maritimes. The day’s events include storytelling, artist demonstrations, drumming, and a silent auction.
The Native American Festival and Basketmakers Market is free and open to the public.
In recognition of Maine Public's media partnership, the Abbe Museum is offering Maine Public Members 2-for-1 admission from June through August 2017. To take advantage of the Maine Public Member Discount, please identify yourself as a Maine Public Member when visiting the museum.
