Caribou Crowned Winner of Drinking Water Competition

CARIBOU, Maine — The best tasting in water in Maine can be found by tapping into the top of the state.

That was the finding of the Maine Rural Water Association’s 30th Annual Drinking Water Taste Test, held on Dec. 8 in Bangor. The Aroostook County city of Caribou took home the title.

Caribou won the championship by besting the other finalist, Point Sebago, in a taste off. Point Sebago won in the "non-disinfected" category, while Caribou won for the disinfected group.

The Limestone Water and Sewer District won last year. The district made a big to retain the crown, but it was not to be.

Caribou will now represent Maine in the National Taste Test in Washington, D.C., in February.
