Independent Candidate For Congress Won't Be Accepting Campaign Contributions

Tiffany Bond

Tiffany Bond is running a very different kind of campaign for Congress in the Second District.

An independent candidate, Bond says she won’t be airing any broadcast ads and is not accepting campaign contributions. Instead, she urges supporters to contribute money to a local charity along with a note in support of her candidacy.

“I’m happy to do a lot of things that don’t cost money, that don’t require me to raise money and be beholden to somebody else,” Bond says.

Tiffany Bond is a family lawyer and considers herself middle class.

She says she plans to attend candidate forums and to campaign in person. Among her key messages is the idea that many Mainers are hard pressed to pay their bills and care for their families. She says that it is time to elect a regular person to congress.

“We’re supposed to be in the best economy, all the news is telling us we are in the best economy right now, we have really low unemployment,” Bond says. “But they are still struggling, especially rural Maine. We are still struggling to survive.”

Bond faces incumbent Republican Bruce Poliquin, Democrat Jared Golden and independent Will Hoar.
