Scarborough officials are reviewing some 2,700 absentee ballots that may not have been included in the town’s final tally.
Secretary of State Matt Dunlap says when town officials went to reconcile the numbers this morning, they found that in the confusion of the early morning hours, they had not reconciled the ballot count to make sure all had been accounted for in the final tallies.
Dunlap says under state law, he has given the town permission to now reconcile those ballots. Because of the number involved, it could have an effect on the two Scarborough house seats.
Dunlap says the review is a public process that will be held this afternoon.
